On this date in 1989, the Mustang ‘came to life’ so to speak in Dearborn, Michigan.
Happy Birthday! I didn’t drive it (It was snowing and I don’t take it out in the salt), but I did put the battery in it and start it up.

Honestly I’m little impressed that a bright white car can make it out of a plant like this which in its heyday seems sure to have been covered with blowing bits of iron and rust and billowing soot. I guess they probably had started cleaning up by the ‘80s.
The east (steel processing side) still looks like quite a wasteland, though Ford has been tidying up the west side (green roofs!). Of course they don’t build Mustangs there anymore.

1989 is a good year for a mustang, I totally am not biased.
I am ab out ready to take the plunge and start the heavier modifications on mine. The interior has been stripped and is almost ready for a roll cage and bracing.
